Advisory Committee
The Music Empowers Foundation Advisory Committee assists the trustees and management of the Foundation in identifying grantees and nonprofit partners that have the best potential to make a sustainable and measurable impact, reaching a broad number of children with innovative music education programs. The Advisory Committee also keeps the foundation appraised of emerging trends and key issues/events in the world of music education and philanthropy.
Members of the Advisory Committee provide expertise in a variety of crucial areas including music, music and arts education and philanthropy. Additional members of the Advisory Committee are experts from the fields of fundraising, public relations and advertising, investment banking and corporate communications. These Advisory Committee members serve as a valuable resource to increase the visibility of the Foundation and help grow the Foundation’s endowment so that it may continuously increase the size and scope of its grants and bring music education to more and more children.
Music Empowers Foundation feels strongly that our Advisory Committee provides the expertise that allows us to channel grants to the most appropriate nonprofits in the music education arena. Donors to Music Empowers Foundation can be confident that their generosity will help to bring the best music education programs to the greatest number of children.

Charles Best is the Founder and CEO of DonorsChoose.org. DonorsChoose.org is a website at which teachers post classroom project requests and “citizen philanthropists” can choose the projects they want to support and to which they want to contribute. To date, 115,000 public school teachers have used DonorsChoose.org to source over $42 million of musical instruments, art supplies, technology and books aiding more than 2 million students nationwide.
