On Thursday evening, October 21,2010 Andy Davis, Kris Allen and Bernie Williams were honored by Little Kids Rock at their annual “Right to Rock” Gala. All three were honored for their support of Little Kids Rock and music education for children. Mr. Davis is the Founder of Music Empowers Foundation which helps to fund nonprofits like Little Kids Rock which provide innovative music education programs to children in communities with little or no music education. In early 2010 Music Empowers Foundation announced a $100,000 grant to Little Kids Rock to support development and expansion of the program to an additional 25,000 kids. Music Empowers Foundation also supports and has made grants to numerous other organization including DonorsChoose.org and the Quincy Jones Musiq Consortium.
Mr. Davis also introduced 2009 American Idol Winner and platinum selling recording artist Kris Allen. Mr. Allen in collaboration with Music Empowers Foundation has helped to contribute and raise over $350,000 for music education in 2010. In 2011 Kris Allen will partner with Music Empowers to support Berklee College of Music’s City Music Network.
The Gala took place at B.B. King’s Night Club in New York City and was attended by approximately 300 guests. The highlight of the evening was an impromptu performance of the Beatles’ song “Imagine” by Kris Allen, Yankee legend and Grammy nominated guitarist, Bernie Williams and kids from various Little Kids Rock bands from across the Metropolitan Area. The classic hard rock band, Vanilla Fudge also performed. Preliminary estimates show that the event raised nearly $200,000 for Little Kids Rock.
