The Music Empowers Foundation today announced the winner of its “Music Teachers Matter” video contest. The event was conducted in March 2013 in honor of Music in Our Schools Month. Participants were required to submit short videos explaining why their school’s music program and its teachers are important and special to them.

The Music Empowers Foundation announced today the presentation of a $75,000 check to Berklee College of Music’s, Berklee City Music Program. The payment represents the second half of a two-year $150,000 grant to Boston-based City Music. The grant was first announced in April 2011 as part of a joint initiative between Music Empowers Foundation and Berklee City Music to raise awareness of the importance and need for music education.

New York, January 20, 2012 – The Music Empowers Foundation announced today that its recently completed national initiative to support music education programs in public schools surpassed all expectations. The month-long program, which wrapped up just before the holidays in December, raised $80,000 and helped to fund over 225 classroom music projects which will benefit an estimated 46,000 grade and middle school students.
